As proposed by another poster, I'd like to use this thread to compile information about who is getting laid off. Please use the other "massive layoffs!" thread for discussion, I'd like to just be a "tracker" so we can see any trends. Please copy/paste this list and fill in as much or as little as you'd like:
1. Layoff Date:
2. Office:
3. Service Type (audit, tax, FAS, consulting):
4. Consulting line (S&O, HC, EA, TI):
5. Position:
6. Years with Deloitte:
7. Severance (in weeks):
8. Most recent rating:
9. Current utilization:
10. On the beach when let go? (y/n):
11. H1B (y/n)?
12. Thing that pisses you off most about this situation (or any other comments...):
To those getting laid off, we all wish you the best wherever your career path takes you. Obviously nobody wants this to be happening and it's unfortunate that it's happening at such a volatile time in the market. But I'm sure with the experience you've gained here you'll be able to find a good position with one of our competitors or in industry. Please keep us updated on where you end up heading! |

*Since the poster above motivated me to do this...
1. Layoff Date: 8/27
2. Office: (prefer not to answer)
3. Service Type (audit, tax, FAS, consulting): ERS
4. Consulting line (S&O, HC, EA, TI): n/a
5. Position: Consultant
6. Years with Deloitte: 1 year
7. Severance (in weeks): 4 + 2
8. Most recent rating: 3
9. Current utilization: busy all the way until March
10. On the beach when let go? (y/n): No
11. H1B (y/n)? Yes
12. Thing that pisses you off most about this situation (or any other comments...): The lies from management: Being told that layoffs won't happen and then being laid off. Also, the way I was escorted out of the offices. Lastly, and similar as the first post, being left out without options. Do they really think that coaching would help at this point? |

10. On the beach when let go? (y/n):n
11. H1B (y/n)?n
12. Thing that pisses you off most about this situation (or any other comments...): Narrow scope of decision criteria. Apparently the decision was a) above the level of local office leaders, from whom I had plenty of support and were extremely dissapointed in losing me, and b) based entirely on Year End ratings. I had 1 lousy PDA over 1.5 years ago, that caused this. My current (above expectations) performance was not considered at all.
I hope that adage of "getting laid off was the best thing that could've happened to me" holds true! |

7. Severance (in weeks): 4 + 2 (consulting with lawyer before sign release) + PTO
8. Most recent rating: 4 (told I was an HR casualty - got dropped from 3 rating to 4 at HR meeting)
Due to low util (50%) last year because of project staffing issues:
a) held for 4 weeks before project was canceled;
b) budget got cut on another project after 2 weeks;
c) on another project forced to dump significant hours into generic codes that didn't count towards utilization
and despite all this and my 4 rating, my promotion date got moved up a year to 2009 - not sure how that makes any sense since since I wasn't supposed to know about the 3 rating
9. Current utilization: 118%
10. On the beach when let go? (y/n): nupe

8. Most recent rating: Internal transfer as of Dec 2007 and given 3 rating, but only had 2s on PDAs in consulting ... I was "too new"
9. Current utilization: 110% before PTO, unable to get on project after 3 wks PTO in Sept.
10. On the beach when let go? (y/n): Yes
11. H1B (y/n)? No
12. Thing that pisses you off most about this situation (or any other comments...): It wasn't on an individual basis. National made the decision. Experienced hires are being sacrificed for the new BAs and MBAS for the sake of relationships with universities. In the short term, right decision. In the long term, bad decision when I and others give a boost to our second tier competitors ....
I'm happy to go, politics only get worse the higher you go. Is a RSAL > LSAP? Is a partner on a $200 million account > RSAL? I'm excited to find a place with an organization chart. |

Hate to have the comments on this thread but I wanted to point out what you stated "c) on another project forced to dump significant hours into generic codes that didn't count towards utilization." If this is actually true, then what they are doing is wrong and unethical. If this had been a government project, they can loose their contract. This can be serious matter if it affects how we bill the client. |

Tell me about ethical, I was "asked" to move my hours to Region 10 because the manager messed up the budget of the project that I was on before I got laid off. |
