Recently joined DC - was wondering when raises, bonuses & promotions are announced and when they become effective? Heard various things and am a bit confused.
Understand I'm unlikely to get a promotion at this time, but what about a raise and/or bonus? (At my old company everyone got at least a small basic raise). And are bonuses only given at the SC level and above? |

I'm not 100% on everything I'm about to say, but from what I know...
Bonuses are only given to SCs and above.
Promotions are done at the end of the fiscal year and are effective in the next fiscal year.
Raises are for all level and depends on your year-end rating. I think the raise can range from 5%-12% or somewhere around there. |

Promotions are announced in June/July timeframe and effective September.
Raises are announced August and effective September. If you were recently hired, your first raise may be small or nothing, depending on how recently you joined and how much they had to pay to get you to come here in the first place. |

If you joined late and weren't part of the Y/E process, is it safe to say no raise that year? I mean, that wouldn't be the most unfair thing in the world, having been there for only a few months, but I'm just curious if a small surprise might happen. |

| If you were not part of the YE process, it is highly unlikely that you will get a raise. Even February hires get prorated raises and those raises are not typically more than 3%. So, I wouldn't hold my breath for a surprise. |
