Welcome to the inaugural edition of the G-Spot, GDL's own editorial, that is written, edited, and published by the moderators. In this issue, we're going to discuss what GDL is all about and the few simple rules that we have.
What is GDL?
GreenDotLife is intended to be a private forum where practitioners can be free to talk about any aspect of work, play, or their personal life. GDL gives you the opportunity to discuss your frustrations about work, ask questions, and, put simply, rant and rave about whatever it is that you usually rant and rave about. Even though all GDL users share a common attribute, GDL is in no way attached to or endorsed by any company, so your thoughts and your posts will find refuge here. GDL is for you, by you, so if you have any suggestions or comments, always feel free to email them to admin@greendotlife.com.
Are there any rules?
Yes. A few.
1. While pretty much anything is open for discussion, avoid discussing things that will reveal your identity or the identity of others. The discussions will remain frank and open only to the extent that everyone can remain anonymous.
2. In the same vein, choose a nickname that will not obviously reveal your identity (if you need to change your nickname, simply email admin@greendotlife.com and we will change it for you.
3. No flaming.
4. Read the rules of each forum.
5. Enjoy! |

It looks like this forum is kind of like fightclub...
| Quote: |
1st RULE: You do not talk about FIGHT CLUB.
2nd RULE: You DO NOT talk about FIGHT CLUB.
3rd RULE: If someone says "stop" or goes limp, taps out the fight is over.
4th RULE: Only two guys to a fight.
5th RULE: One fight at a time.
6th RULE: No shirts, no shoes.
7th RULE: Fights will go on as long as they have to.
8th RULE: If this is your first night at FIGHT CLUB, you HAVE to fight
|
I don't think your question is going to get answered. |

1st RULE: You do not talk about GREENDOTLIFE.
2nd RULE: You DO NOT talk about GREENDOTLIFE.
3rd RULE: If someone says "stop" or starts to flame, tap out the thread is over.
4th RULE: Minimum two guys to a thread.
5th RULE: One login at a time.
6th RULE: No shirts, no shoes.
7th RULE: Threads will go on as long as they have to.
8th RULE: If this is your first time at GREENDOTLIFE, you HAVE to post. |

That should go straight into the welcome message. |

So since all the login names are mapped to work email ids, how is it that that everyone remains anonymous here.

The work email is not stored on Green Dot Life.
Here's how it works:
The work email on the registration screen requests the work email address. When you submit your registration information your work email address is put straight into the phpBB emailer code with your activation code. After the script is done processing and the email is sent, the work email address falls out of scope (Its released from memory) and is never recorded. The personal email address that you enter is recorded in the database.
The random key that is generated and sent to your account for activation is deleted from the database when you click the link and activate your account.
There were a few issues that were discoved and corrected regarding this in this thread. The issues that you express, and are expressed in the thread were taken seriously and acted upon.
Hope that alleviates some concerns, now enjoy the forums![/list] |

How is GDL funded?
|
My guess is somewhere there is a slush fund fueld by the Firm's international trafficking of nuclear-biological weaponry, illegal blood diamonds into and out of Africa and its strong control over the drug-highways that pour cocaine into our American streets through Southeast. That or some bored people bought a $15 dollar domain and web provider. |

| It's probably the firm's slush fund in the Cayman Islands. I can't imagine someone coughing up $15 to fund this out of their own pocket. |
