Several people including myself have a problem with the compaq 6910p screen going dark which forces us to do a hard reboot. This happens most often when coming out of standby, but also occasionally happens when the machine is sitting idle.

The machine isn't asleep--the hard drive & power lights are on--it's just completely unresponsive. Nothing works to bring it back....ctrl-alt-delete, standby, fn-F4, etc.

Does anyone have a remedy for this problem?

I've had the same problem with the same model. For me, it happens most often when I close the laptop and re-open it...the screen stays black and won't come back up. Occasionally the FN-F4 will work, but rarely. If I'm on my home network and know the IP, I can remote desktop in and shut things down gracefully, but if I'm at the client site I'm screwed.
