So long story short I previously used to abhor Delta. I had one extremely bad and a few not as bad but still bad experiences with them and up until recently avoided them at all costs. However, out of necessity I had to fly them and realized to my horror I had no status with them whatsoever. Now, I don't have any top tier status with other airlines yet, but I do have some with American. I faxed a screenshot of my American status/mileage page over to Delta at 404-773-1945 with a quick couple of sentences about having to fly them more often because of business and waited to see what would happen. Checked back and two days later I was put into Gold Medallion, which is 2nd from the top! Long story short I've been enjoying complimentary upgrades on virtually every flight as well as tons of bonus miles and whatnot. I highly, highly recommend giving it a shot.

Cliff Notes:
-Fax a screenshot of your status/miles on another airline to: 404-773-1945 (you can use deloittefax)
-Add a quick line about needing to fly Delta because of a new business location
-Check status in 2-3 days (you won't get any notification from Delta)
-Start boozing it up in first class!
