Fair, if you accept it.

Hi all.
How much does an entry level Business Technology Analyst with a Masters make in the Texas area?

I received an offer of 68,000 + 10,000 bonus a few weeks ago. Fair? Rip-off?

Do we really get more for having a master as entry level?

thanks

Part of the 45K is tuition component(MBA) which DC agrees to bear if the candidate sticks out some 2 years or more.

What about MBA's who were part of Deloitte and came back after they got their degree? Some programs cost double that. Does Deloitte really pay for more than $45K in tuition or is this the cap?

I was hired by Deloitte from Grad School - I have a H1 visa, but my offer wasn't any different from the ones made to my non-H1 classmates.

I have been with the firm 4 years now, have had only 1 had 2 ratings and would say that my pay increases and bonuses have been performance linked and been on par with my non-H1 peers.

Now, that doesn't mean I get paid a lot - I am just saying I personally don't feel that I am paid less because of my visa status.

I wonder if some of the wage disparity is pure demand-supply economics and how much Deloitte can low ball a given person.

And don't call me racist cos I object to you ripping off me and my fellow citizens you slimy MF. How would you like it if thousands of foreigners suddenly flooded into your country at a time of high unemployment?? You Indians are a bunch fucking primitives, you think that American = WHITE and that anyone not white is the same as you.

Fuck off back to India and take your fucking H1B visa with you.

Did americans go to China or did chinese come to America. Now that you're Chinese-American (AKA IMMIGRANT)....u have a problem with others. Have fun.

You seem confused about the difference between CHINESE and CHINESE-AMERICAN (of which I am one).

There are a lot of CHINESE-AMERICANS, but they are American Citizens, mostly born and raised here in the US. Good patriotic citizens. The flood of H1B visa cheats (which is what eveyrone is complaining about) is almost exclusively from India. Look around your office sometime - half the people are quacking in Hindi about curry and how to buy a wife. The Chinese people are mostly ... Americans. "American" does not necessarily mean "white".

Is this serious? Chinese-American racism against Indians? The group that was put into concentration camps during World War II think they are real Americans now? Oh wait, that was the Japanese-Americans, the Chinese-Americans were ethnic cleansed after they built the western railways as bonded slaves. They were easily dealt with because they had no immigration status in this country and were taking jobs from the real Americans. But what does it matter, they all look the same.

Pathetic.

We have seen too many Managers like these that it does not make sense to pay them more. These are the same idiots who assess performance and gave 3s or 4s to those under them. What a joke?

I don't think that to be true of the senior managers on my account at all. In fact their utilization is normally more than the 1st year analysts. Especially one in particular but I'm out of the Atlanta office.

Perhaps that is true for the Atlanta Office where you are the Partner. In the Detriot Office, however, it is the opposite. Specifically, one Indian Senior Manager is such an asshole. He is the stereotypically slave master with no brains. All he does is making people's lives horrible in order to make himself look good in front of his favorite Partner. He sat all day from 7:30AM to 10:00PM doing nothing at the client site while others slaved away hours on end. One thing he is so good at is asre licking. By the way, this guy got promoted to Sr. Mgr within two years as a Manager.

That was JAPANESE not Chinese. The chinese were part of the Allies in WWII (Japan of course was Axis).

And most of the Japanese WERE citizens, that was the problem. During war, its fine to round up enemy aliens. The bad thing is that they were US Citizens.

But seriously, this has nothing to do with the question at hand which is: should we be bringing in 65,000 H1-B immigrants a year from low-wage countries when unemployment is running at 9.7% and the economy is on the floor?

Put it like that and I think most people will agree: shut down the H1-B program till the economy picks up. Racism has nothing to do with it.

Is this Indian Senior Manager an H-1B or has Deloitte sponsored him for a Green Card? Guys like these are disgusting. They take advantage of America's generosity and then use it to oppress Americans. This guy should be sent back home to India.

If you know your history, the Chinese were the ones that built the railroads and then kicked aside and marginalized. Chinese women weren't even allowed to come to America and so because of anti-miscegination (sp?) laws, Chinese men could not pro create.

The Japanese stopped coming to America after 1908 due to the Gentlemen's agreement act. The Chinese, after 1882, could not enter with a few exceptions.

Get your history correct.

Asians in America are actually amongst the most marginalized and discriminated in American history. The Chinese workers were equivalent to slaves but black workers at least had the opposite sex to pro create and have a family. Asian women were heavily restricted to coming to America.

This is all far before internment camps and Korematsu.

Most asians in the US came in the 1950s onwards, escaping communist tyranny. For them, the US was paradise, so they weren't (and aren't) interested in continuously whining about the past like some ethnic groups I could mention. Most asians know that this is a better place than from where their parents came from and they know they are lucky.

And it should be noted that

1) The Chinese were NOT stealing jobs, there was a tremendous labor shortage in the West at the time.

2) Immigration policy was racist EVERYWHERE. The Chinese in 1860 would not allow whites to live outside certain tiny areas (the international district in Shanghai, or Hong Kong island for example) lest they breed with and contaminate the chinese population with their lesser genes.

3) This argument is not about Chinese vs Indians. its about AMERICANS in a time of 10% unemployment asking why there is a law in place allocating 65,000 visas to overseas workers to come and work in the USA. Its a fair question. If a country cannot deicide for itself who can come in and who cannot, and when they can come and when they cannot, then who can?

Every other country in the world controls its borders for the benefit of its citizens.

Stop all this race-baiting and look at the argument in front of you.
