I recently got migrated to a new HP laptop which happens to have a biometric fingerprint reader built-in. Anyone have any idea how it works? I can't find any control panels or applications that mention anything about it.

Go to hp.com and find the downloads section. Search for your model number and look for the HP ProtectTools utility, and the associated Fingerprint Module. Install ProtectTools first.

It works decently when you first turn the machine on, but quickly degrades after it's been on for a day or two.

Enjoy!
