Hey - what ever happened to the Braxton Bull Fighter? Remember that little add-in to word and power point to find consulting words? Did that go the way of Braxton and CMOs?

Looks like Deloitte handed it off to some third party after the Braxton boondoggle. We now have a similar tool called "TERMinator", but the name doesn't quite convey what it is supposed to do.

Deleted it off my computer because it kept causing problems. I was not in this meeting but I heard one consultant was talking to another consultant about converging and diverging milestones.

It's because of these buzz words "multi thread" etc etc.. that people think consulting is all fluff.

When you approach an Engineer/Developer and used such words... you better dang well know what your really talking about....

Coming from an soft. engineer background, these fluff words really make consultants not well liked by the technical folks Sad

TERMinator is a QRM tool used to keep you from using words that get us into legal trouble like "Guarantee" or "Ensure" or "Deliver any type of value worth paying $250 an hour"

I was on a call today during which someone said, in response to a question:

"If what we have now is the 30,000-foot view, then let's take it up to 50- or 100,000 feet."

It took all my willpower not to quip, "Alright, but who's bringing the oxygen masks?"

Someone needs to take this person up to 100,000 feet, shoot him and leave his body to rot forever floating at the edge of space as reminder to all that metaphors can only go so far but stupidity is infinite.

I was helping a friend find an apartment over the weekend and I actually told one of the brokers that what he was doing couldn't be considered a best practice; I felt like a tool, but he did actually get the point.

There is a distinction between classic proverbs/sayings and consultanese. Ways to skin cats is classic and is generally understood by Firm partners to the local gas station attendant.

you can still download it, although dtt does not support it. there's also a book written by the same people who created bullfighter ("why business people speak like idiots") that's pretty funny.
